In order to do your best you have to feel your best. That’s why American Family Insurance offers benefit options that allow you to proactively take charge of your health.

Medical Benefits

American Family Insurance offers a variety of medical plan options, allowing you to find a plan that meets the needs of you and your family. All full-time and some part-time employees are immediately eligible to enroll in a medical plan. You can enroll yourself and your dependents - a spouse, domestic partner and/or child(ren). And what's more, as a full-time employee, we pay 90% of your premium and 50% of the cost of your dependent coverage. As a part-time employee, we pay 65% of your premium and 30% of your dependent premium.

The plan options vary depending on where you live. Most plans offer comprehensive coverage including preventive care and prescription drug coverage, but there may be variation in deductibles, co-pays and coinsurance.

Dental Benefits

American Family Insurance also offers two dental options administered by Delta Dental. All full-time and some part-time employees are immediately eligible to enroll in a dental plan. Like medical, you can enroll yourself and your dependents - a spouse, domestic partner and/or child(ren).

The first option is our Standard Plan which provides coverage up to $1,000 per year for each insured to cover such services as preventive, restorative, and surgical procedures. For a full-time employee, we pay 90% of your premium and share equally in the cost of your dependent coverage and, for a part-time employee, we pay 65% of your premium and 30% of your dependent premium.

The second option is our Extra Plan. This plan provides coverage up to $1,500, including orthodontics. We pay the same dollar amount towards your premiums as we do for the Standard Plan. You are responsible for the remaining premium.

Flexible Spending

The Flexible Spending Plan allows you to save for eligible health care and dependent care expenses on a tax-free basis. All full-time and some part-time employees are immediately eligible to enroll (regardless of whether you enroll in medical or dental benefits) in one or both of the account options we offer: a Health Care Account and a Dependent Care Account. You can choose to contribute up to $5,000 per year into each account, and you are reimbursed for eligible expenses (for you or your eligible IRS dependents) from the tax-free contributions you make. A debit card is associated with our Health Care Account, making reimbursements easier for you!

Life Works

LifeWorks, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), is a service that provides confidential assistance to you and your household members in resolving personal or work/life issues. This service is available to all employees and their household members at no cost for the first meeting/consultation. LifeWorks also offers a highly informative website with articles and tools to support you in a wide variety of your work/life needs.
